Best Round Result of the Year for Marjoram on the Gold Coast

XFORCE Brand Ambassador and Erebus Academy driver Adam Marjoram scored a season-best round result of sixth place overall in the V8 Ute Racing Series on the Gold Coast.

Continuing his upward trend in results over the year, Marjoram achieved two fourth places today, and a seventh place yesterday to finish the round with his highest points haul of the season.

The #5 Auto One Ute driver climbed to fourth spot from a starting position of sixth place in race three this afternoon, after making up a place in race two earlier in the day after starting that race in fifth.

“I’m pretty happy with today and the whole weekend,” said Marjoram.

“I equalled my personal best finish of fourth place in both races today and I got my career-best points total for year.

“In race three this afternoon I got a really good launch from sixth on the grid, and I went straight around the outside of two cars and was up to fourth by the first corner.

“I was right on the back of McNally for most of the race but he was pretty defensive so I couldn’t get past him – this is a hard place to pass and he did a good job being defensive.

“We had good pace, and I think we had the fastest lap until the second last lap, but towards the end I started slipping back towards Sieders a bit.

“The start of race two was a bit messy with a lot of cars going after the same piece of real estate going into the first chicane, so I cut the chicane and had to readdress my position, and I actually over addressed, and ended up losing two places so I feel down to sixth on the first lap.

“But we had a really good car and I picked off a few guys during the race to get back to fourth.”

In his first year as a part of the Erebus Academy, Marjoram has developed soundly throughout the year demonstrating a steady improvement in results.

“There’s never been a question about the car speed – the car has been fantastic all year,” he said.

“But I’ve worked hard on putting together a weekend, and being consistent and aggressive.

“Once you’re consistent and you limit mistakes, the results will come, and today with two fourths, the result definitely did come.

“It’s been a huge learning year in my second full year of car racing, and we’ve been chipping away, and building on the foundation which we worked on earlier this year.

“This week was also difficult for me personally with my Uncle passing during the week but he was a big supporter of my racing and I’m sure he was riding along with me.”

The 21-year-old is looking forward to capping off his year strongly at the final round of the Series in early December.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to Homebush, and if we can start the next round from the same place that we finished this weekend, the result will look after itself,” he said.

“But it would be really good to stand on that podium!”

The final round of the V8 Ute Racing Series will be held at Sydney Olympic Park on 5th – 7th December.
