Global Motorsport Wrap – August

When it comes to development for performance technology in cars, motorsport is where a lot of it happens. Products are put to the ultimate test of endurance and performance and that leads to the parts then sold onto the public being capable of meeting the highest of standards.

So at XFORCE, we are passionate about racing and our exhausts are used in a variety of motorsport categories around the world. That means we’ve had the help of the world’s greatest engineers, mechanics and drivers in improving our exhaust systems. The month of August is a busy month of motorsport as the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship heads over to Sydney Motorsport Park which is just around the corner from Sydney head office. It was the perfect occasion to enjoy a solid weekend of racing and also invite our valued dealers out to see for themselves how it all happens behind-the-scenes of V8 Supercar teams.

XFORCE was down on the ground to show our local dealers what goes on and check out the Tekno Autosports and Super Black Racing Teams, both sponsored by XFORCE. It’s a real eye opener once you really get behind the scenes of a race weekend for Australia’s premiere class of touring car racing.

We also bumped into XForce Brand Ambassador and Australian Motorsport Legend, John Bowe. Bowe paired up with Peter Edwards in the Maranello Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 which took the track for the 101 lap endurance race. He had the pleasure of spending a couple days with the new Ford Mustang GT fitted our state-of-art stainless 3” Engine-Back System. What did he have to say about it? “Its music to your ears! It can go from standard quiet nanny’s car to almost V8 Supercar glorious sound and everything in between. It is the most innovative exhaust sound change I have come across.” said Bowe.

The Toyota 86 Racing Series also headed to Sydney Motorsport for the second round of the inaugural Championship where thirty eight Toyota 86s (Scion BRZs) took to the grid for three action-packed races. Team XForce driver, Trent Grubel was an absolute magnet to mid-pack carnage all weekend long and due to no fault of his own, taking evasive action on numerous occasions to avoid damage, Grubel soldiered on to record three top-10 finishes for the round.Check out the highlights HERE.

Feature Ride – Phil’s Mustang

XForce Feature Ride: Phillip LeVasseur’s Ford Mustang GT

The Ford Mustang. The car that kick started muscle car’s golden era. After nearly refining the Mustang for nearly 50 years, Ford does it one more time. With a modern interpretation of that classic shape, and a new V8 under bonnet, the Mustang’s popularity galloped away.

Phillip first bought his Mustang in December 2014, and with the help of his friend, participated in the wholesome activity of making it fast, fun and looking good. The first thing that hits your eyeballs are the tasteful aesthetics of Phillip’s Mustang. The stock wheels have been chucked out, in favour of 20×9 and 20×10 RTR wheels.

The fronts are wrapped in sticky Nitto Invo tyres, while the rear wheels are fitted with Mickey Thompson ET Street SS; serious rubber for serious power. Allowing the Mustang to rest on the ground is an Airlift suspension kit, allowing it to lay flat out or be raised to clear driveways and humps.

Besides the bright red wheels, the rest of the exterior has been fitted with colour coded RTR side skirts, diffuser and rear wing. The front end is made more aggressive with a Cervinis front splitter, and a full Diode Dynamics RGB LED front lighting system helps the headlights stand out even more. The LED system extends inside too, lighting up those beautiful Braum Racing Elite racing seats, upholstered in red suede.

It’s not just show though. Under the lightweight Anderson Composites GT350 style carbon fibre bonnet lies the 5L V8 pumped up by a 2.9L Whipple supercharger. A tough McLeod RXT clutch ensures no slip between the engine and the driveline, pumping all 600HP to the rear wheels.

Playing the song of the Mustang’s five-o though, is the XForce catback Varex exhaust system. Phillip loves it; he could let the Mustang roar or cruise quietly down the Californian highways, evading unwanted police attention. Fully opened up, the Varex exhaust system simply allows the supercharged V8 to holler away. “The build quality is next to none, and the sound is unbeatable!” said Phillip, never one to cut corners when it comes to his Mustang. The option of having the Smart Box to fine-tune the Varex functions also provides a future upgrade path for Phillip.
